Sew like a pro. Learn many of the finer points of shirtmaking to make construction easier than you may have experienced in the past. Collect tidbits of information that often are not included in typical pattern instructions. The class draws upon ‘bespoke’ shirtmaking methods, industrial construction methods and experience-acquired techniques. The class project is a CLASSIC LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT. A classic shirt has the following elements: a one-piece back; a double yoke; two front sections that overlap; flat-felled seams; one-piece (long) sleeves with plackets and cuffs; a collar on a collar stand, and a rolled hem. Often a pocket is included as well as darts for fit or just personal preference. Our project shirt will incorporate these classic elements. The pictured shirt is on display at the Charlotte Sewing Center. Click on the title or picture to learn more about the class and to REGISTER for the class.
