In this class you will learn all the very basic techniques for making a quilt, including fabric and batting selection and preparation, thread selection, how to use a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat, making templates, accurate piecing and matching intersecting seams. We will piece together a quilt top, make the quilt 'sandwich' and learn how to mark the quilt for quilting. Then quilt it using the presser foot on the machine and by doing free motion quilting and, finally, bind the quilt. Featured piecing techniques are strip piecing, half-square triangles and curved seams. Learn to make mitered corner and ‘corner stone’ borders. All of this in 6 3-hour classes!
There will be homework. In class we work on practice fabrics; at home you apply the what you learn as you create your table runner. Material and supplies list will be provided, usually by email, before the first class.
Batting is included in the $135 class fee.
