Authors of the recent sewing book, The Tunic Bible, Sarah Gunn and Julie Starr are a power house sewing team. Their shared enthusiasm of fashion sewing is wiely accepted and promoted by the sewing industry through book signings, appearances, workshops and social media.

Since 2011, blogger and author Sarah Gunn has helped thousands of women across the globe nurture their creative spirit through her fashion sewing blog Goodbye Valentino. One year after starting Goodbye Valentino and creating hand curated wardrobe, Sarah was approached by New York’s Mood Fabrics, the Project Runway go to fabric store and became an original member of its online sewing network.

Author of the award-winning book, The Tunic Bible, Sarah Gunn serves as an ambassador for SVP International (Singer Viking Pfaff) for the Pfaff Brand, a as well as a contributor to the Coats & Clark website and PBS series, It’s Sew Easy. She is a featured speaker to sewing guilds across the country most recently including, Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville and Hawaii.

Recognized for creating ’The Ready to Wear Fast’ Sarah has led dedicated followers through the 365-day pledge to sew rather than shop with panache. Inspired by favorite designers, beautiful textiles as well as her own designs, Sarah’s sought-after style encourages women to think beyond Ready to Wear shopping. This year over 1,000 sewists have joined Sarah for the 2018 Ready to Wear Fast.

Julie Starr (Author, The Tunic Bible) is a perennial favorite contributor to the 400,000+ global member website, The Pattern Review Website where her clothing has won six consecutive annual awards based on member votes, and has been profiled as their "Member in Focus". 

Her career in custom luxury homebuilding on Kiawah Island, SC provides a skill set which translates easily to garment design and construction. Sewing classic wardrobe pieces that multi-task with style and function for the many facets of her workday world is a challenge she relishes.

The natural beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry beaches, tidal marsh and diverse flora and fauna, along with the history and charm of historic Charleston are reflected in her work and provide much of her design inspiration.

On Saturday, June 16th Sarah and Julie will be at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, at the Oscar de la Renta exhibit.
