MONTHLY BLOCK CLASS - Stitcher's Garden #1 - a Block of the Month Presser Foot class.
Back by popular demand! This is a 9 months long BOM quilt class. Each month a different specialty presser foot or attachment is featured and used to make at least two blocks. We’ll explore many of the decorative stitches built into your machines. Learn how to use, on your sewing machine, many of the beautiful heavy weight decorative threads that can’t go through a needle eye. Also learn to make a few fancy embellishments. In class, the featured foot or attachment, and special techniques, will be demonstrated and you can practice on scrap fabric or work on your actual blocks. There is homework, Each class session is 3 hours long; not enough time to make the blocks in class. Plan to do the actual block at home. The quilt was designed by Lynda Howell, formerly of Stitch Connection, but yours truly has modified it somewhat. In class we will make all of the blocks and put together the quilt top. You will be given instructions and guidance, then, for making the quilt sandwich, quilting and binding it. We will not actually be doing those last bits in class.
This is a machine applique quilt and each block has a background to which the applique is stitched. Those background squares will be pre-quilted to a very thin batting. After the blocks are made and sewn together, an all over batting will be added, which can be that same thin batting or a little heavier batting. The thin batting I recommend is Quilters Dream Request loft and I will make it available to the class at a discounted price. More about that as class time draws nearer.
We carry Pfaff, Viking and Babylock feet. All machine brands are welcome in the class, but if you have a different machine brand, you may have to purchase the feet elsewhere.
