ATTENTION Sewists, Embroiderers, Quilters...
Are you confounded with all the sewing threads available out there in the wide, wide world? Cotton, Polyester, Nylon, Rayon, Perle Crown, Crown Perle, Thick threads, Thin Threads, Glow in the Dark Threads, Metallic threads,Twisted threads…. the list goes on and on and on. Which can be used for what, used when, used why? How to choose???
And then there are needles! Types: Universal, stretch, quilting, topstitch, denim. Sizes: 90/14, 75/11, wing, 120. Cutwork needles; Felting needles. What does it all mean? How to choose which to use?
Using the correct needle can actually solve a lot of the problems sewists encounter.
Is it enough to want to tear your hair out? AARRGGHHH!!!
This class will answer so many of those frustrating questions. We will talk about needles and threads to use for seams in different kinds of fabrics, needles and threads to use for decorative stitching and embroidery, and how to use those beautiful too-thick-for-a-needle threads. Troubleshooting is part of the discussion. . .what problems can be fixed by choosing the right needle and the right thread!
You'll learn why your straight stitches are sometimes laying in a straight line and sometimes are a little wonky.
This is a lecture class. Just bring pencil and paper for note taking and, of course, all of your questions about needles and threads. The class is scheduled for 3 hours. You might think that is a long time to talk on this subject; you may be surprised!
Note: We will not be taking a lunch break but do feel free to bring something to munch on during class.
