The table runner is a traditional pieced and appliqued quilt top. Made from twelve 12" square blocks, the finished size is 24" x 72. This is a great project for practicing rotary cutting, sewing accurate 1/4" seams, chain piecing and turned-edge applique by machine.
This is a 6 hr one day class. We will do the cutting in class. I will demonstrate an innovative way to use a ruler and paper template for cutting the fan wedges. We will make one complete block in class to be sure to have the construction down, then continue to complete as many blocks as possible in the class. Quilting will not get done in class but we will develop ideas for quilting the table runner at home. All over free motion meander quilting was done on the store sample but there are lots of other possibilities. It is a great practice piece. You might want to quilt each of the blocks with different patterns or techniques. If you have an embroidery machine, think about quilting in the hoop.
The SUPPLIES list will be posted here soon. If you have already registered before it is posted, it will be emailed to you.
We try to have fun in our classes, learning from each other as well as from the so-called expert instructor. We typically learn something new about our sewing machines, about helpful accessories and just lots of other stuff. So come to class with an open mind and a sense of adventure.
I communicate about the class via email. Please be sure your email address is correct. You might want to add my email address to your contacts to help ensure that my emails do not go to your spam mail folder.
