Monogram a Tote Bag
Stitching a monogram, or any other embroidery design, on an already-made- tote bag can be a challenge. I may not have all the answers but take this class to learn my tips and tricks for success. The tote bag is even included in the class fee.
If stitching on a ready-made tote seems intimidating, this class will put all your fears to rest. Learn about stabilizers and how to hoop the tote, how to get the design placed where you want it, basting in the hoop and more.
You need to bring to the class your monogram design saved to a USB or to your machine so all you need to do is load it, center it and be ready to stitch it. We will NOT be loading and arranging individual letters to create the monogram. This class is strictly about hooping, design placement and stitching, NOT about creating the monogram. If you need help with how to create the monogram, and you bought your machine from Charlotte Sewing Center, you can schedule a 2-hour Owner's Lesson with me on how to create the monogram on your machine, or in software if you bought the software from us.
The included tote bag measures about 15" high x 10" wide x 5" deep; has handles and a shoulder strap. Unlined. The top portion, where the monogram will be stitched, is a canvas type fabric and the bottom portion is like a gold faux leather stitched to the canvas underlay. There is a small inside hanging pocket and all the inside seams are covered with binding. A nice bag.
The maximum dimensions for the monogram are 5" x 8". The monogram shown on the bag here is about 4.7" x 8.6" but the 8.6" dimension was a bit of a challenge.
The tote bag and all the stabilizers we will be using are included in the class fee. You will bring your machine, the monogram embroidery design, the threads you want to use and your hoop(s). Bring regular hoop(s), not magnetic hoops. Be sure the monogram will fit in your hoop with at least a 1/2" of 'wiggle room' each direction. For example, if your hoop size is 5" x 7", the monogram design should be not more than 4.5" x 6.5".
