Quilting on your Embroidery Machine (Continuous Line Quilting)

I love the look of free motion quilting but I do not enjoy doing it.  Fortunately, quilting designs for the embroidery machine are readily available to buy, and they are great for quilting small and medium size projects.  In this class we will do continuous line quilting on a small project.  Continuous line designs are often called Edge-to-Edge or End-to-End quilting designs.  If you have hesitated to try quilting in the hoop, or have had a disappointing experience with it, this class may help you fall in love with 'quilting in the hoop'.
 
There are two different types of 'quilting in the hoop' designs.  Some are closed, or block, designs that do not connect with each other; we are not doing those in this class but the techniques used in this class can be used for those closed designs.  The other type are continuous stitching designs.  These designs each have a starting point that connects with the ending point of a previously-stitched design, so the designs are connected.  They look like a continuous line of stitching.  One of the key challenges for stitching these, is hooping accurately so the designs connect.  I will show you what is, to me, a fairly easy way to do that.  Another challenge is what to do when the quilt does not completely fill the hoop.  We will handle that.  Is a special type of hoop needed for quilting in the hoop?  The answer is no; regular 2-part hoops can be used.  Magnetic hoops can make it a bit easier but are not necessary.  We will explore all of that in this class.

The Materials/Supplies list (click here to download) gives the complete list of things to bring to class.  You will need a small practice piece or small project to quilt in class, your embroidery machine and your hoops, a specific embroidery design that I ask you to purchase from Designs by JuJu (so we are all working with the same one), thread, sewing supplies, etc.  The Materials/Supplies list has all the specifics.
