About the Quilt -

Take a look at the included photos. It looks more like a traditional quilt than past HoopSister offerings.  The Diamond Skill Builder Shop Exclusive (i.e., can only be purchased from a shop; not on-line from HoopSisters,) is very versatile! Each block builds a skill to be applied to the next block. Embroidery machine required.  Basic piecing in the hoop, as well as piecing skills on a sewing machine. Quilters will love to learn how to apply piecing skills to embroidery and embroiders will love learning some piecing skills to add to their embroidery! This is a Win Win!

The “blocks” are 60° Diamonds that can be laid out in either a Star formation, or a strip quilt formation.

    

The Diamond shaped blocks come in two sizes to fit either a 6” x 8” (150mm x 200mm) hoop, or a 9” x 11¾” (230mm x 300mm) hoop.

The back can be completed using the HoopSisters traditional sashing method, OR a one piece back attached using a sewing machine with walking foot, or even a long arm.

If you want to make a larger quilt, borders can be added either by making more blocks or by creating border strips of fabric, which can also be quilted in the hoop.

About the Class

We all work a different paces, so we'll do a non-traditional kind of class.  A first class will be scheduled in-store with optional ZOOM for those who can't make it to the store.  In this class we will go over general information about making the quilt; you will get your designs on a pre-loaded USB and get any other materials being offered.  Six more evening 'classes' are scheduled, bi-weekly, all via ZOOM.  Each will focus on a different block in the quilt, putting the quilt together and giving help as needed.  I will create a private Facebook Group just for us where we can exchange information, ask questions, post photos as we go along.  I am tentatively planning to make and post 'sew-along' videos for each block and for some other aspects of the quilt making process.  This is new for me, so we'll see how that goes.  I would notify you when the videos are posted and you can watch them at your convenience.  If you need some hands-on help, we can schedule a few in-store sessions.
